Writers in Oxford | Membership Criteria
The more of us there are, the more we can achieve, the more we can learn and – the more fun we can have!
- Writers living and working in or within reach of Oxford
- Writers who have had published, broadcast or performed either:
- a minimum of one full-length work, or
- an equivalent body of shorter items, for example, articles, stories, blogs, scripts or poems.
- Writers whose work is self-published if they have sold several hundred copies.

WIO has been a uniquely important social circle for me, where I’ve found friends, kindred spirits, stimulating people and ideas.
Subscription > The annual cost is £25, by standing order.
In order to simplify collection, all subscriptions fall due for renewal on 1 December each year. If you apply to join on or after 1 September of any year, your membership will be valid, without cost, until payment of the first subscription on 1 December.
Joining
If you would like to join Writers in Oxford and are professionally qualified to do so, please send us your details on the form below. You can also send us the same information by email to: membership@writersinoxford.org.
The committee will consider your application at its next meeting. If you meet the criteria we will confirm your membership by email, giving details of how to make your payment by standing order. If you have not heard from us within six weeks, please get in touch so we can check that your application has been delivered to us: membership@writersinoxford.org.
We always do our best to extend a warm welcome to new members and there’s a welcome party for them towards the end of each year.

A read-only version of the database is available to members on a password-protected members-only page on this website.
